Rattlesnake Skin Parker Style Fountain Pen

This is a very unique Parker Fountain Pen which has been crafted from
a pen blank which was made from Rattlesnake skin.
The skins come from areas of North America where rattlesnakes are
problematic for humans and must be eradicated. The skins
are sold as a means of offsetting the cost of this elimination.

The snakeskin arrived with the skin mounted on the pen's inner
brass tube, which had then been embedded in a hard resin.
Here's what that looks like after being cut into the pen's 2 pieces

The turning process rounds the corners
and the snakeskin is becoming more evident.

As the pen is turned into a round shape, the resin coating becomes thinner and thinner and looks at times quite scratched and scuffed.

But with more turning and much sanding to a very fine grit,
followed by the application of various pen polishes,
like Magic, the resin clears and becomes "glass-like".
